The swing-out arm is secured in place with a locking pin when closed. The arm pivots on 2 roller bearings and a stainless steel pin with an adjuster and is helped to swing out and stay in place with the fitted gas ram.

There is an adjuster on the lower hinge pin so the arm can be adjusted to counteract the weight of the rack and bikes, ensuring it closes nice and smooth.

All the frames are hot dip galvanised and then powder-coated, with stainless steel fixings where possible.

The frames are supplied with either 7- or 13-pin electrics—just let me know what you require at the time of purchase.

As a safe working load, it is suggested to be around 60kg with bikes and a bike rack. Although the frame can handle more, it may just require a little lift as it is put into the locking position. That said, it can accommodate 2 e-bikes with no problem at all.

The frames do benefit from an additional bracket near the hinge end to the tow bar on the vehicle. These need to be made up after the frame is fitted due to the massive variation in tow bars. Any decent garage, fab shop, or tow bar fitter will be able to do this.

I build these frames myself and also work away a fair bit, so please contact me for a delivery time frame. Normally, they can be delivered within a week, but just check to be sure.

The existing electric socket on the van will need relocating.

The total weight of the frame with fixtures and fittings is roughly 30kg.
